Emmy's Bath Melts

These unscented bath melts are simple and very effective for moisturising dry, sensitive and eczema skin. Simply pop one into warm waters and the natural plant butters will gently melt, and do the body moisturising for you. No wriggles, tears or fighting, just soft skin! One of the big challenges with eczema skin is keeping the skin moisturised. With its 'leaky' skin barrier, eczema skin is unable to keep it's own natural moisture level. This is hard to keep on top of for anyone with eczema but especially a challenge for small (and not so small) children. These Baby Buff Bath Melts are a practical time saver for us and we use them all the time for both of our hyper allergenic girls. We advise not using anything else in the bath water as soapy bubbles, whilst fun, will not do itchy eczema skin any good and will exacerbate symptoms. We just use a tiny amount of "Bleating Lovely"  (our super gentle and natural Irish goat's milk soap) where needed. 

For little ones with eczema the Paediatric Dermatologists, from Crumlin Hospital in Dublin, advise bathing no more than 5-7 minutes in a "greasy bath". Greasy isn't the most attractive choice of word, but it gives a clear idea of what they advise is needed! Just one of these melts is more than enough per (normal sized) bath. For smaller children in smaller amounts of water one melt will do 2 baths. The bath melts moisturise and coat the skin so just gently pat the skin dry with a towel, so as not to undo the good work of the oils. Rubbing too hard will also damage fragile eczema skin.
